There are deeper philosophical reasons why psychiatry has failed – one of these relates to problems concerning ‘free will’ and theory – as Dr Samuel Johnson put it “All theory is against the freedom of the will – all experience for it” .
Today’s problem is that current ‘theory’ i.e. ‘Science’ has fallen apart from the centre – it’s a case of the Emperor has no clothes – but too many vested interests shut off re-thinking the problem – and psychiatry, psychology and intent, all suffer.
